Previous Perfomances

Friday 20th August 2010, A Night at the Opera

Roy Hart

The evening started with a unique and entertaining Health & Safety briefing by the host, Roy Hart.

Sister Sax, the warm up act, delighted the audience with a musical variety including a couple of tremendous Saxophone solo's.
My favourite song was a rendition of Amy Winehouse's Back to Black.

Then followed a big performance in this little, but charismatic theatre.
Opera Novella a trio of singers, backed by a six piece orchestra under the Musical Direction of Bernie Lafontaine.
Helena Dix(Soprano), Mark Cunningham(Tenor) and Adam Miller(Baritone) produced an exciting, funny, emotional and entertaining, performance. Their strong powerful voices created a dynamic atmosphere.Individually gifted performers, but together produced a synergistic act.

Their perfomances included some of Adam's favourites(evening joke); you may not have known all of the titles, but when the music started, they were instantly recognisable.
Here are a few, just to whet your appetite: The Barber of Seville, La traviatta, The Marriage of Figaro, Carmen and after a couple of encores Nessun dorma.
For their final performance the trio of superb singers; Helena, Mark & Adam performed,a personal request from Roy, Barcelona. This was followed by another standing ovation, cheering and shouts of joy.

Roy was congratulated by many of the audience for staging such an wonderful spectacle of sound and sight.

It was a thrill and a pleasure to be part of such a wonderful evening. If you were unable to make this show, you missed an incredible evening, be sure not to miss it next time.
Don't let the word OPERA put you off.
